Let’s look at the 2025 season
I personally am not a huge fan of predictions. It’s just difficult to predict how things are going to go, and I don’t really see a point. Still, I do want to look ahead at 2025. I’m very excited for the new season to start. One thing I think everyone is sure of: it is going to be an amazing season.
Seeing how the last season ended, McLaren seem to be the fastest team. I expect them to win quite some races. However, they are going to have to make a choice. They cannot support both of their drivers for the full season. At some point, they’re going to have to choose and I’m not sure they’re ready to do that. Which driver will be better, I honestly find very hard to say. Lando Norris seems the stronger driver on pure pace, especially when it comes to qualifying, but I think Oscar Piastri is mentally so strong. If they are fighting for the championship, I honestly don’t know who will come out on top.
Ferrari went up and down last season, but I do believe they will have found what they are looking for and can fight for the championship. Personally, I think Charles Leclerc will definitely be the faster of the two. He will just have to stay calm and focused. While Lewis Hamilton is an absolute legend, I’m afraid he’s lost his touch. He’s still fast, but I think Leclerc will be able to fight for the championship, and Hamilton will only be able to win one or two Grands Prix.
Red Bull Racing will have to deliver a great car, otherwise they’re just going to loose their driver. Max Verstappen wants to win world championships. If he can’t, I don’t think he has a reason to stay at Red Bull. Still, I don’t think they need the best car for Verstappen to perform. He can still win a championship in the second or third car, but he does need to feel confident in the car. Liam Lawson will probably not compete for the championship, but he should always be close to Verstappen. He needs to pick up the points to win the constructor’s, but I’m not sure if he can. He has very little experience, so I’m wondering if he can deal with the pressure.
I’m afraid Mercedes will be stuck between the best and worst teams again. They will not be near the front, but also not at the back. I think they’re just straight in the middle again, without really competing for the championship. Their driver pairing is really interesting. I think George Russell is very talented, but he has never been able to really show it. Andrea Kimi Antonelli will want to prove himself, but is also just a natural racer. I think they will be very close, with perhaps Antonelli coming out on top.
Aston Martin, I don’t even really want to discuss. I’m guessing they won’t really improve, unless Adrian Newey has performed some crazy magic. For their drivers, Lance Stroll has recently not shown any talent and I also think Fernando Alonso should move over to give new drivers a chance. I just think they will probably be even worse than last year, and I don’t even really care.
Alpine is already messy before the season has even started. Kicking Esteban Ocon out of the car to get Jack Doohan in early, and then most likely only giving him five races to perform is crazy. Doohan has not been driving recently. If they want to give the young talents a chance, they should actually give them a chance instead of putting this much pressure on them. Pierre Gasly is really talented, but I don’t know if Alpine has really got the car next year.
Not the biggest fan of Haas, but I am really excited to see Oliver Bearman in Formula 1. Officially speaking, he’s not a rookie anymore, but still, he’s really new to the sport. Also, he was really able to show his talent last year, so I hope he can continue that. Esteban Ocon will hopefully realise that he needs to be a nice teammate and that improving the team is the most important thing right now. He often tries to prove his talent and fights his teammates too hard. I hope he doesn’t do that this year, because I will fight him.
I have a soft spot for the Racing Bulls. I just really love Yuki Tsunoda and I hope he goes actually crazy next year. I want him to perform every single race, score so many points, maybe even get on the podium. If he doesn’t, I completely understand because their car isn’t the best, but I just want him to prove that he deserved that Red Bull seat. Isack Hadjar seems to be a bit of a hot-head, from what I’ve seen in Formula 2. Honestly, he has never really stood out to me, but I would love for him to prove me wrong.
Williams will probably not be able to achieve really good things this season, their focus is on the future. Still, I’m excited to see them improve and slowly make their way to the top. Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz are also going to be great teammates, with similar speeds I feel. It’s just great to see a team really come together and I hope they’ll be able to fight for championships again in the future.
Finally, Kick Sauber. While they were slowly improving their car last year, I’m afraid they’ll still be at the back this year. Again, for them it is also a year of changes. They are waiting to become Audi, so their focus is probably just for Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto to get used to the team and driving in Formula 1. Still, it’s always exciting to see how a rookie can perform against an experienced driver.
Overall, I’m just really excited for another season of F1. It’s nice to see a whole bunch of rookies getting a chance, and the end of the regulations is always an exciting time. The teams seem to be really close together, so it’s going to be an interesting fight for the championship.
